I grew up in Chicago, along with an amazing array of incredible musicians.. My first mentor and musician friend was Phil Upchurch.. So the bar was set high.. I say it humbly as I recognize that Chicago has turned out so many unbelievable artists.. Including my long time sister Ms. Chaka Khan.. We met during my Ask Rufus years.. Along with Minnie Ripperton and many others.. I used to go to Ratsos on the north side of Chicago and sit in with Donnie Hathaway and Phil Upchurch.. Also it was Phil who first recorded me solo and sent it to Quincy Jones.. And that is when I discovered that this was truly my destiny..
I moved to LA first and after a few years I moved to New York city and became one of Luther Vandross's core background singers.. And in the interim sang jingles and vocals for so many artist .. see allmusicguide.com or google
I've been truly blessed to make my living doing what I love the most..
Also going to schools to learn more and do more.
Goodman School of Drama.. Lee Strasberg in Hollywood and
Stella Adler in New York city.

recorded with them as well as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston,

Why I love jazz:
It is how I started and finally where I'm starting again.. Full circle. It is the music my mother sang and played for me along with the blues.

In the studio recording with Tom Scott, we have wonderful guest on our CD, Bobby Caldwell ,Robben Ford, Bob James,

This is truly a labor of love !! We are feeling a lot of support for this project from wonderful people all over!!

Bobby Caldwell and I did a duet that I'm loving now. I am truly grateful!!! Robben Ford slayed me with his solos!!

I wrote lyrics to Alan Broadbent's Sonata for Sweet Pea' and called it "Heavenly" .. Got Mike Campbell (vocalis) to help me finish the lyrics and it is now going to be on the CD with Bob James playing the solo..
