About Me:
Primarily self-taught, Jazz pianist/synthesist/composer Neil Alexander was performing, composing and arranging by age 14. In 2007 he released “Tugging At The Infinite”, his 4th CD as bandleader with his contemporary electric/acoustic jazz ensemble “NAIL”. He has done sessions as both player and programmer, has composed for and/or been musical director for a variety of NYC based Modern Dance and Avant Garde theater companies. He has received grants from Meet The Composer; performed works by Stravinsky, Ives, Cage (among others); managed his own ensembles both electric and acoustic; taught music clinics at both high school and college level in sequencing, sampling, and MIDI; produced concerts in both small venues and large outdoor settings; and done sound design and music concrete (including assembling sound effect libraries and live audio manipulation). Neil has composed more than 200 works for small ensembles of various instrumentation. In addition to NAIL he performs solo acoustically and electronically, and is involved with several different ensembles including the “Mahavishnu Project”. He also spent ten years touring with the notoriously successful Pink Floyd Tribute "The Machine", where he contributed significantly to their signature live sound and subsequent success. Neil and his group NAIL are members of Chamber Music America, and are involved in educational programs on both the High School and College Level. www.nailmusic.com.

Cool, I 'll try this.. I have been playing Bari for 38+ yrs mainly in local Big Bands ....Branching out into the EWI field , which the basic MIDI world is not new.., Still have an old IVL Pitch rider I use to hook up to my alto or flute to run a TX81Z...and had fun ..just not a lot of places in West Texas to play that stuff...let alone Big Band :-(..anyway been playing the 400s for about a yrs now ..BLOWS me away whet you can do with that!!1 Patchman Music did a great job at tweakin the VL70m.. Now I am looking for a way to play as real sounds as I can find..I guess they call um samples...just not sure how to get there...outside of the many cool patches MIDI provides I am still stuck in hearing real Horns etc..:-)
SO ..that is where I am at the moment ...played guitar for years since 65, keyboards a bit. mainly a woodwind player now...trying my hand at writing tunes for Jazz / Bands...
