The Pete Ellman Big Band performs every Tuesday at Jilly's in downtown Naperville, IL, approximately 45 minutes from downtown Chicago. The is never a cover charge and local high school jazz bands are featured weekly starting at 7:00 p.m.

Oak Park School District 97 will be hosting their first Middle School Jazz Camp, August 9th-13th at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School. Pete Ellman Big Band @ Jilly's at Jilly's in downtown Naperville

Every Tuesday night, the Pete Ellman Big Band performs at Jilly's nightclub in downtown Naperville, IL. The group consists of Chicago area professional jazz musicians and educators members have performed with Ray Charles, Bob Mintzer, Michael Brecker, Wayne Bergeron, Mel Torme, and Ellis Marsalis to name a few. There never is a cover charge so come out and support live big band music.

About Me:: I am currently the Director of Bands at Gwendolyn Middle School in Oak Park, IL where I teach four Concert Bands and Three Jazz Bands. I have been teaching for 12 years and have been performing part time professionally for over 15 years.

Musical Background & Experience:: Over 15 years experience in the United States Air Force Band Program playing saxophone and clarinet and freelance experience in the St. Louis and Chicago metropolitan areas. Currently the musical director of Harmony in Blue Jazz Ensemble and auditions coordinator for the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest.

Bachelor of Music degree from Eastern Illinois University with Jazz Emphasis and K-12 music education certification and currently working on masters degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.

We have a concert coming up on Wednesday, October 29 @ 7:30 p.m. with Aaron McEvers & M13 (check them out at www.aaronmcevers.com). M13 is a really good group with some of the top players in the area. They play regularly at Qwenchers on the third Tuesday of the month.

Our Open House is this coming Thursday at 7 p.m. if you have any 8th graders interested in coming to SPHS.

On November 9 we are playing at the Skokie Theater with Jeff Hedberg & C11.
