Profile Information

First Name
Eddie
I am here for:
Meet Players, Networking
Employment Status
Self-Employed
Occupation:
Professional trumpet player, composer, and teacher
About Me:
I'm originally from El Paso, Texas, but I've been living in Houston since the late 1980's.
Musical Background & Experience:
Trumpet Teachers:
Michael Hamm (Hawaii)
David Robins (El Paso)
Kenny Capshaw (El Paso)
Sam Trimble (El Paso)
Jim Austin (Houston)
Dick Schaffer (Houston)

Went to Andress high school which always placed high in the NAJE rankings back in the 80's. Went to europe with that band in 82.

Went to UTEP where we recorded three LPs with the Jazz Lab Band and played in the Montreaux Jazz Festival in 1986 (I think it was 86). I was the Jazz chair for that band.

In Houston I have been a freelance player working with a LOT of different bands over the years. Some of it has been jazz. I am David Caceres' trumpet player whenever he uses trumpet and I played the jazz chair with Ed Gerlach for about fifteen years. But mostly I've played lead horn section stuff in salsa bands, top forty/wedding bands and stuff like that.

Eddie,
Nice to see you on the jazzcom page. I just finished a new recording with Galen's band featuring a great vocalist in the Dallas area. It's on my jazzcom page, band and vocal cuts alike. See you on the next Jack Melick gig. Byron Parks

Thanks for the add. I use your "Daily Routines" and "Go With the Flow" books all the time. Really get a lot of of them. Hope to meet you one day. Take care and keep in touch.

Hello Eddie;

Was Sam Trimble still at UTEP when you were there? I performed a clinic there under his watch way back when I used to live in Dallas, late 70s or early 80s. Keep swingin'. You know Sparky Koerner I bet?! Good buddy of mine. Will be in San Antonio for TBA coming up soon. Look forward to making your acquaintance sometime in the near future. Check out the newly formed Jazz Education Network. Up and running in a couple of weeks.
