About Me:
I am a vocalist that loves to sing the Jazz Standards.
Musical Background & Experience:
My family has always been very musical. My father sings and plays all stringed instruments and the piano, Mom , a master in studio art, sings the blues and sang in musicals when I was a child, Sister, Nancy, plays the flute and is a photographer, Brother, Sam, plays the fiddle and guitar and has a Phd in communications, my nieces and nephews play guitar, violin, and cello. I've always been surrounded by live music, education and art. We didn't watch much T.V. growing up. The family travelled to small towns with my musician father playing at dances in the sixties. He played boogie woogie piano and bluegrass and country music on the guitar. I went to rehearsals with him at the neighbors house and I always looked forward to every moment when he picked up the guitar or sat at the piano. When my parents divorced, I was 10, Mom moved the kids to Kansas City. I started listening to a lot of Rock, Soul, and R&B. I began listening to jazz when I was 16. A highschool friend of mine, now a DJ in L.A. at KPFK , turned me on to Joni Mitchell, Charlie Parker and Billy Holiday. After listening to this music, I fell in love with it and have continued with this love more seriously by singing the standards in clubs all over Kansas City.

Thanks for getting back in touch with me. The jazz scene here in Greenville SC is not great. There is some around town but it is hard to find. I listen to it here and on the net. I really enjoyed listening to you. You have a great sound. do you ever come this way on tour? If so I would love to hear you live. I am a trumpet player by trade and a band Director by day. I teach jazz in my school. I have a great jazz band program here. I love to play jazz but do not get the chance often. Most of the gigs I play are with Beach Bands (SC beach music) and gigs at church. Keep in touch I would love to hear back from you about your music
